Large part of the Vandas burned due to power failure

"It is a worst-case scenario"

"A disaster happened. On a warm day, we experienced a power failure that made it much too hot in the greenhouse, the roof didn't open, and the screens didn't close, and a large part of our Vandas got burned," says Steef van Adrichem of Ansu Vanda. "It's really the worst-case scenario and logically it hurts, a substantial number of plants are lost. To what extent the Vandas will recover and what exactly the plants will do is still uncertain, but the extent of the damage is slowly becoming clear. We are also flying in new plants as quickly as possible." Steef wants to be open about the situation because the event affects customers worldwide.

"If there's a party, we show it. When shit happens, we do too. We are just honest. Very often we are very lucky, but now we have a bit of bad luck. As entrepreneurs, we have the ability to immediately move forward." Steef also immediately thinks back to March 2020. "When the entire flower market collapsed, we specialized in flowers for events and weddings, which became a disaster. From that moment, we immediately looked at what we could improve in the situation to be strong. With a whole collection of unique plants, we are now much stronger as a company than before COVID-19. We will also use this to ensure that we come out at least as good, preferably even better."

In the video below, Steef provides some more explanation about the situation (In English).
