"With the recent events around the Public Television Service (PBS) and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), there has been speculation about the viability of our public television show, J Schwanke's Life in Bloom," explains J Schwanke, the show's host and creator. "While the new financial challenges for local public television stations are very real, I am pleased to state that J Schwanke's Life in Bloom will continue airing for years to come."
The flower lifestyle television show, seen in the U.S. on public television (PBS) stations nationwide, shows viewers ways to enjoy arranging flowers and reinforces the documented health and wellness benefits flowers offer. J Schwanke's Life in Bloom reaches 116 million households on a weekly basis. Over the course of a year, 58% of all U.S. television households watch PBS via traditional television.
"The show has never received money from PBS, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, or any local station. Our underwriters have always been the sole source of financial backing, and in fact, their generosity has always included paying for the licensing and distribution for all local public television stations through the APT Exchange program with our distributor, American Public Television," conveyed Schwanke.

"We established Life in Bloom Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 2023, as a way of maximizing Underwriter funding for the show. All contributions, large and small are tax deductible. This is also an easy way for fans of the show to assist with funding, should they be so inspired," noted Schwanke. J Schwanke's Life in Bloom is available to watch for free on local public television stations, as well as Create TV. Free streaming access is available with PBS Passport, the free PBS App – for all devices including smart TV's – and on PBS.org
"Now more than ever, we are so grateful to our underwriters," said J. "The financial support of our friends at CalFlowers, Albertsons Companies, Passion Roses, Suntory Flowers, and FabulousFlorals.com is what makes it possible to create the series, and is reflected in the shared success of the show," said Schwanke.
"We are equally grateful for the support of viewers, as well. Financial contributions are certainly welcome, however voicing support for local public television stations (and your favorite shows) to elected representatives is so very important – not only today, but also reminding them on an ongoing basis," suggested Schwanke.
"Thank you to all who have reached out with messages of concern. We are well into production on Season 8, for broadcast on local public television stations beginning in April of 2026, and look forward to continuing for years to come. If you enjoy the show, consider reminding your local station that Life in Bloom can be programmed free of charge. As they say, our success is due to 'viewers like you' – and we truly appreciate the way our viewers have embraced flowers in their lives!" concluded Schwanke.
