Wouter den Hollander with Kolster. The assortment mostly consists of outdoor flowers and plants, meaning they can be grown without much supplemental light and heathing. In times of crazy energy prizes, that is something growers are looking for.

Ton de Bresser and Joost Rabbering with Selecta one, here showing a couple of new poinsettia varieties: Pink Champagne and Lemon Xmas. However pretty, these varieties are destined to remain 'specialties', meaning 90+ percent of all poinsettia's in the market is red, followed by white and only then 'weird' colors like these follow.

Mario Rigatti of Padana. This Italian young plant producer started to breed various crops several years ago. One of the highlights at their booth (not own bred, but they are the only company who has these varieties) are Pomodoro Bon Bon and Pomodoro Fanta Beef. Both are easy to digest, Bon Bon has no peel and Fanta has no seeds.

René Ratterman of Succulents Unlimited. René has set up a new branch for the company under the name Flora Supplies Unlimited. Flora Supplies is the new branch where they provide growers with canes, organic pots and data loggers.

Urile and Hartwig Bull of Bull Gartenbau and Bull Genetics. This latter company was established about 2 years ago for all breeding and licensing work worldwide. Sunbeckia is their main item, but Sunmagic is getting increasingly popular with its round, compact and bushy habit. More colors will be introduced soon.

Nouschka van der Burg and Joyce Lansbergen with LG Flowers. The gerbera grower is largely focussed on making bouquets, especially so during the summer months.

The differences were clearly visible. Both were eye-catchers but for a different market.The product from seed was bred to flower quickly. It therefore only needs days of 10.5 hours of light to flower. Good for retail because Petunias are in demand earlier and earlier. But if one wants product that can be enjoyed (even) longer than product from cuttings remains better. Alexander Kientzler in front the Spring assortment, FrühlingsFlirt is the name of the concept. It is a mixture of spring flowering plants and foliage plant. "It is more a high value assortment, not with standard primulas, for example."

Chris Biesheuvel is helping out with sales in, among others, VW Orchid and Butterfly Orchid, two phalaenopsis growers from the Netherlands who are still going strong.

Almost his entire professional life, Bart Duijvesteijn worked with V/d Bos Flowerbulbs. Stepping down to enjoy his pension, he cannot help but picking up a new challenge: help XL Bloom to broaden its customer base abroad.

JS Creations was represented by Ad Schouten, salesman at the company. The assortment of JS Creations continues to expand and this IPM the concepts with Orchids were given extra attention.

Liat Shemer and Gina Paola Ramos of Danziger were also visiting the show.

Cees Bronkhorst of Cees Bronkhorst Quality Sales, visited his customer Bas Ubink of Ubink. In spring Ubink's products will be offered in a new pot line.

Arjen de Mare with Winco, presenting a new concept named Sierra. Sierra consists of specialties and more exclusive varieties 'grown for plant lovers and collectors'. Plants are available in pot 5.5. and 8.5. cm.

The team of Flora Toscana and Adrian Parson if Helix Australia.

New from Helix Australia are the more compact wax flowers like Cotton Candy, which the growers of Flora Toscana are growing in Italy.

The sales team at Vreugdenhil. Last year was a tumultuous one, besides the general developments in the market a fire destroyed there packaging facilities. However, they took the opportunity to install a new combined heat and power (CHP) unit, and hope to come back this year even stronger than before.

Thomas Ris of Van de Voort Pot Planten with was at the fair with the new collection of Spathiphyllum and Azalea in different added value.

The "Be Unique" also drew a lot of attention at the fair.

Joost Niebuur with Oriental. The grower/importer of bonsai sees sales going strong, while their market share in ficus ginseng is even growing.

Hazeu Orchids was at the fair with their assortment for retail and wholesale. All products were in their, Greenovation Award winning, hexagonal pot and was presented by Paul Verstegen.

The VG Colours booth showed what they are capable of with dyeing their Orchids. Joost van Bergenhenegouwen displayed his products in the blue-colored booth and talked about the endless color combinations they can create.

Marco v/d Goes and Marcel Hoogendoorn with Houwenplant. Customers want to know the 'footprint', and therefore the grower did two things: calculate the CO2 emissions per plant, and make plan how to reduce it. By 2030, they hope production is 'carbon neutral'.

Greenflor imports the most exclusive, pretty and 'weird' flowers from all over the world. Here you see an example: a huge heliconia, a specialty available in only very smalll quantities.

Anneke and Gé Bentvelsen of ABZ Seeds were of course also at IPM Essen. Anyone who wanted to know more or taste the strawberries, grown from seed and under LED, was more than welcome at the stand. "Delicious Dutch strawberries in the middle of winter."

Richard Venema and Sophie Venema with Smits Kwekerijen, one of the biggest plant growers of the Netherlands. Recently, Smits Kwekerijen joined Plant World, a fusion of 4 tropical plant growers.

"Find the pink ball and win!" With this action, Deliflor got many visitors taking a dive (and often not coming out for 10 minutes or more searching for it).

Marco alias Shurui Zhang and Bo Schilder with Kapityn, world wide supplier of calla bulbs. Marco is the sales agent China, an interesting and indeed growing market for Kapiteyn.

Traditionally in hall 1A, the 'basement' of hall 1, florists can show off their skills, while breeders, growers and trade companies present them their assortement and new varieties.

New fuchsia series Ballerinas. They (upright and trailing) are rich flowering, well branched and are a motley earlier flowering than the common varieties in the market. They will be available in 2024.

Bart Koek of TempTale GEO LTE also came over to neighbor Bloemen Bureau Holland.

What better to make a hart with than with red roses?

At the booth of Bloemen Bureau Holland we meet from left to right Francine van Wijk, Rob Tas and Monique Tummers. Rob is a new face at the Flower Bureau. He has been working as Manager (Inter)national relations floriculture sector for over a month now.

Christian Westhoff and Bart Hayes of Westhoff. Calibrachoa Calitastic Cappuccino (the calibrachoa in the back) is one of their highlights at their booth, which is introduced this year. Although it is sold out in Europe for this season there are young plants available exclusively from Jolly Farmer for customers in North America this spring.

Frank van der Meer with HiBreeding, presenting a novelty hydrangea series named Reblooming. However bad a gardener one is, reblooming the next year is guarenteed.

Ale Toering, Sales Manager Benelux, and Jeroen van Mill, Sales Manager of Dutch and German speaking countries, of Chrysal Promoted their efforts to bring the right parties together to make sea freight possible.

Ronald van Schie with Air So Pure. The brand recently slightly adjusted its focus, from purely the air purifying qualities of plants to their broader merits of improving general health and well-being.

Rosa Eskelund with their new garden rose Our First Summer, which has the same strong fragrance as their successful Our Last Summer, but a different color. Rosa has high hopes for this variety as it is a strong variety with a good fragrance and it has the same color as their pot rose Princess of Infinity, which is a popular variety.

Rosa Eskelund of Roses Forever with their new Yellow Infinity, for 10.5, 12 and 15cm pots. She is very proud with this introduction as it is the first good yellow one in their series.

Vincent Homan and Martijn Wolmerstett with Elsgeest Young Plants. Business is getting better again, so they know; from an all time high to the recent low due to high (energy) prices, the market is now set to find a new equilibrium.

At Daniël Hogewoning of Greenflor, part of the Floral Trade Group, visitors could take advantage of a photo shoot action where you could win the Golden Ticket.

At Van Nifterik, they know all about products for plant support and decoration, first and foremost manufactured out of/with bamboo.

The men from Zyon, Erik van Rijn and Dave Bakkenes, were also present on behalf of Zyon in the Floral Trade Group's shared booth.

The MPS | Let's Grow booth was manned by from left to right Arthij van der Veer, Edmund Simm, Winny van Heyningen, Peter Hendriks and Ramond Scheepen. Everyone who wanted to know more about the Hortifootprint Calculator, offered jointly by MPS and Let's Grow, were more than welcome at the booth.

Ben Winslow of WinGen and Kevin Hurd of Proven Winners. One of their highlightsis the Calylophus Super Lophus , a variety bred by WinGen, marketed by Priven Winners. The variety is a Texas native and therefore very heat resistant.

Peter van der Voort with Hoorn Bloom. Up to this day since covid started about three years ago, on the whole sales of bouquets has been good.

Kientzler is licensed young plant grower of this variety as well as Plantpol in Poland and Psenner Italy.

Beste Blumen is a cooperation between 15 flower-retail companies situated spread out Germany. At the fair they were represented by Robin Weisheit and Christian Willeke.

Nancy van Kleef, Director of Marketing, Retail and Sustainability, of the FM Group. Nancy along with the other booth crew highlighted their innovation Future Garden this IPM. With this new digital service, they offer growers, among others, the opportunity to exhibit 24/7 and broadly profile their business. This service also works with new 3D technology that allows the product to be viewed all around and thus be displayed very well.
Thereby they were at the fair for the first time as FM Group with all labels that fall under it.

Alexandro Bock and Montserrat Josa of DIEM and DIEM Breeding. Over the last years they changed their assortment they now D-Magnus (big flowers), D-Tahiti (classic and mediums sized flowers), and D-Tahiti Plus (the improved classic line with an eye and bigger flowers). Now a complete assortment from mini to big.

Jaap Steenvoorden recently started working at the lilybulb exporting company. He is the third generation continuing the family business.

Sofi Feldborg is Easycare, presenting their new Easycare display tower, with their easyscore with which they can guide people to find the right plant for them.

The easyscore. With 5 stars for example, plants can survive for one month without light and water.

Bart Tesselaar with Könst Alstroemeria. At the fair, the possibilities the recently initiated cooperation with United Selections offers was highlighted.

Lisa de Klerk, Research and Development, and Corina Imanse, Account Manager, of Iribov. Both ladies were at the fair to promote the services Iribov provides. From virus testing to tissue culture and nowadays also automated transplanting of tissue culture.

The R and the M of RM Plants, Rémi van Adrichem and Mauro Brenna, who together established a successful Mediterranean-plants business.

At the Ornamentex stand we had a nice chat and possibly discussed some things. Also visiting was Nico Grootendorst (left), General Director of Evanthia.

Jacob and Poul Graff of Graff Breeding. Jacob is holding The new lavenders Angustafolia Q-dula Jupiter. It is produces without cooling, which means that you can grow it as a greenhouse crop and do planning throughout the season.

Ramon Zwinkels with Esperit, who occupied a remarkable booth: standing one meter wide and 10 meters or so long, a thin line of tropical forest decorated the hall.

The stand of Succulents Unlimited took the whole fair by storm for their Succulents cutting. With an extensive assortment and an enthusiastic team there was a lot of interest.

Soren Offer Madsen and Martin Rasmussen of Livetrends. 10 years ago this company was founded in the US and 2 years ago it was established in Europe m, supply retailer around Europe with home decor designs.

Erik-Jaap Kroone, director at flower export company Nijssen Jr. BV and major supplier to Vahldiek, a flower wholesaler in Germany.

The management of Suntory came from Japan to this fair for their customers and, together with MNP Flowers, to show everyone who wanted to know more about their different varieties. Their Double Blush Pink did get the spotlight this edition of the IPM Essen. It is the first double flowered Mandaville to be commercial in the market. The team f.l.t.r. Masashi, Erwin, Klaas, Yasuyizi, Taizo and Yvonne.

Steve DeVry and Brendan Scott of DeVry Greenhouses in Canada, were also visiting the show.

Heidi van Bebber with All Blooms, a grower of hebe and anthurium from Straelen, Germany.

Suwat Singtothong and Lakota Chutarattanakul and her husband of Kanok from Thailand were also visiting the show.

Max Bierman, RVO, and Guido Jacobs, Export Partners, at a booth of the Dutch government. Together with others, they build a platform for entrepreneurs hit by Brexit, thereby reaching out to them and seeing how/where they could use some help.

Last year, Dolly Buster officially christened "her" 'Dolly Buster' hydrangea, a novelty bred by Kordes Jungplanzen. On Wednesday, she actually payed a visit to the fair.

De Zonnebloem, Henk Braam and Micro Ferns was at the fair with the familiar assortment. Cris Oostveen of De Zonnebloem was at the fair with his partners.

Several growers were exhibiting their products at tables at the Floradania booth.

Stefanie Desmet and Kirsten van Linden, Microflor. Besides phalaenopsis, hellebore is major product. The Viv Diana is a novelty, names after the princess, a hellebore lemonnierae which, contrary to most of its peers in this sub-group, flowers early.

The ladies of Fleuro Select, looking great as always, Sally and Ann took all the time for the visitors who wanted to know more about their medal winners.

Christoph Stevens with FlorAmor. Around the nursery, a lot of wildflowers a have sown. With the help of a beekeeper, they managed to harvest some honey, this year actually no less than 200 kilo.

Brecht, Arthur, Maxim en Gael with De Cock Plants. Recently, the plant supplier added sweet potato to the assortement.

On the Beekenkamp stand were, from left to right, Sirekit Mol (Head of Commercial Ops), Andy Abbey (UK Sales), Annieck Ruigrok (Marketing) and Marc Driessen (Director). There was time for good conversation, snacks and drinks and, of course, seeing all of Beekenkamp's varieties and novelties.
