Living Raspberry Pink 'Improved' wins Royal FloraHolland prize

Living Raspberry Pink 'Improved' wins the Royal Flora Holland prize for best Hydrangea paniculata

"The Hydrangea paniculata has a long flowering period of more than 100 days and low maintenance properties. The hydrangea has a color change from creamy white to pale pink to vivid pink and has sturdy stems that allow it to reach a height and width of up to 90 centimeters. In addition, it is hardy to -30°C. Moreover, it produces a new crop of flowers every year and promotes biodiversity by attracting beneficial insects such as butterflies and bees."The hydrangea is available in pot size C5. POS materials such as table banners, a storytelling label, posters, and photos provide additional support for the hydrangea in shops.

The Living Creations collection is the result of a long breeding program."It includes a range of strong, robust hydrangeas that last a lifetime and bloom throughout the summer." The collection is the work of breeders Alex Schoemaker and Leo Slingerland, which has already been awarded several prizes and distinctions. For example, other varieties in the collection have already won the Royal Flora Holland Prize, including Living Pinky Promise and Living Little Rosy.

In addition, several varieties have received the Gold Award (including Living Touch Of Pink and Living Pinky Promise), the Silver Award (including Living Little Blossom and Living Pink & Rose), and the Bronze Award (including Living Candy Love and Living Cottom Cream) at the KVBV Awards.

Schoemaker says his breeding work is far from over. The breeding work will continue in the future and further improvements will be sought, as Alex Schoemaker emphasizes: "We are always looking for even richer and longer flowering varieties and stronger, more resistant plants. Therefore, we will continue to cross and select further improvements."
